My Monokote-covered Carl Goldbert 1/2A Lil' Satan after its attempt
to break the ground barrier. The plane is buried in the turf up to
the cylinder of the motor. That poor Black Widow couldn't save me
from myself. Thankfully, the turf at McIntyre Field was much more
forgiving than the tarmac at Samuels Field or the pavement at
Bardstown High School parking lot. The engine mounting nacelle was
broken and the leading edge of the wing shattered at this point. But
this combat wing survived to fly again, and is still in my
collection, a little worse for wear. The Monokote has held up better
than I thought. |
