Denny Greenwell's Panther sits shattered after a crash at Samuels Field on April 22, 1973. As shown here, the inboard flap hinges broke, and the flape raised up as shown here. The loose flap acted like a rudder, and it steered the Panther up over Denny's head and straight into the ground. Because the plane veered into the center of the circle, the control lines went slack, and Denny had no control of the plane. It was one of the most violent model plane impacts I've ever seen.
