KARS 2-METER NET, 9 pm Sunday. The Bardstown 145.47 repeater is the home to the weekly KARS 2-Meter Net every Sunday night at 9 pm local time. This informal net is a sort of "meeting-on-the-air" for local hams, and serves as a way to pass along information of interest to amateurs in the community.

KARS 10-METER NET, 9:30 pm Sunday. The KARS 10-Meter Net is a tradition that dates back to the Novice Enhancement days of early 1987. Novice license holders were given voice privileges on the 10-meter band, as well as 223 MHz and 1296 MHz. Prior to the establishment of a 2-meter repeater, the 10-meter net was the only place for local hams to have an on-the-air gathering.

KARS 6-METER NET, 8 pm Sunday. The KARS 6-Meter Net is a started in mid-2005 as a way to encourage activity on "the Magic Band" among local amateur operators. The net attracts stations from all over the region, from Missouri to Ohio.

NELSON COUNTY ARES NET, 8 pm Thursday. County EC Joe Kendall, KE4JYC, is the NCS for the weekly ARES Net. The net meets on simplex because this likely will be our mode of communication in event of a major disaster with widespread power outages.

SEVERE WEATHER NET. The KARS Weather Net is not new; it was originall an effort by KARS member Dick Stone, KB4YYI, former assistant director of the Nelson County Emergency Management Agency. During periods of threatening weather, local weather spotters conduct a 2-meter net, taking reports and relaying them to the NCEMA public service network and the National Weather Service.

KARS and NCEMA have worked together whenever severe weather approaches the community. Reports from stations in western parts of Nelson County are always appreciated.

The Severe Weather Net takes place on the 145.47 Bardstown repeater on as as-needed basis.
